چکیده

complication of fracture of the humerus. It may also result from compression by a tourniquet, from the use of crutches, and from allowing the arm of an anaesthetised patient to hang over the operation table. It may develop during sleep, especially when the patient is intoxicated (“Saturday night palsy”). Cases have been described of radial mono-neuritis caused by alcohol, lead, arsenic and serum sickness. The nerve may also be damaged by deep intramuscular injection into the posterior or lateral aspects of the upper arm. Radial palsy after muscular effort is rare. It is mentioned in textbooks (Baker 1955, Wilson 1954), but only a few cases have been described in the literature. During the last year we have seen three such cases conforming to a particular nerve compression syndrome. To the best of our knowledge no description of such a syndrome is to be found in the literature.

Radial Tunnel Syndrome, Diagnostic and Treatment Dilemma

Radial tunnel syndrome is a disease which we should consider it in elbow and forearm pains. It is diagnosed with lateral elbow and dorsal forearm pain may radiate to the wrist and dorsum of the fingers. The disease is more prevalent in women with the age of 30 to 50 years old. It occurs by intermittent compression on the radial nerve from the radial head to the inferior border of the supinator ...

Modified Simple Decompression of Ulnar Nerve in Treat-ment of Cubital Tunnel Syndrom

BACKGROUND There are two main surgical approaches, simple ulnar nerve decompression at the elbow, and anterior transposition of the nerve in treatment of cubital tunnel syndrome. Both techniques were reported in literature in details with similar reported success rates. Here, we present a modified simple de-compression surgical technique in treatment of cubital tunnel syndrome. METHODS Fifty...

Aberrant Radial Artery Causing Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Anatomical vascular variations are rare causes of carpal tunnel syndrome. An aberrant medial artery is the most common vascular variation, while an aberrant radial artery causing carpal tunnel syndrome is even more rare, with an incidence ranging less than 3%. This article reports a patient with compression of the median nerve at the carpal tunnel by an aberrant superficial branch of the radi...

Bilateral Radial Nerve Compression (crutch palsy): A Case Report

The radial nerve is also known as the “great extensor nerve” due to its innervation of the triceps, wrist and finger extensors. It originates from the posterior cord of the brachial plexus, and its course along the proximal humerus makes it particularly vulnerable to injury by compression at the proximal arm. In the primary care setting, radial neuropathy is the third most common compressive ne...

Ulnar nerve palsy due to concomitant compression by the anconeus epitrochlearis muscle and a ganglion cyst.

Compression neuropathy of the ulnar nerve at the elbow is commonly caused by constriction at the fibrous cubital tunnel or an anatomical elbow deformity. Many uncommon causes of compression have been described, including Osborne’s band, ulnar nerve subluxation,1 anatomical confines of the cubital tunnel, elbow osteoarthritis, ganglion,2 prominent medial head of triceps,3 and an anconeus epitroc...
